In the lonely landscape of the Isle of Lewis it is difficult to imagine it being the ideal location of a progressive chemical engineering company. Yet a short distance from the islands world famous Callanish Stones sits this understated scheme.

 

Projects of this scale and complexity on the islands are highly unusual. The technical brief had the potential for enabling a large shed, alien to this landscape. However at sba architects we applied our expertise and local knowledge to blend the industrial and the vernacular aesthetic enabling this project to be efficient and sympathetic to its surroundings.
